The Center for the Church and the Black Experience celebrates Black History Month 2013

1760 – RICHARD ALLEN, FOUNDER OF THE AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL (A.M.E.) CHURCH IS BORN, DIES IN 1831

1991 – SUPERSOAKER (TOY WATER GUN) PATENTED

African American inventor Dr. Lonnie G. Johnson patents the SuperSoaker toy that goes on to sell over 40 million units making it the top selling toy in the US in 1991 and 1992.
